RI State Police Arrest Coventry's Sen. Kettle
The state police took him into custody Friday afternoon at his Richmond business.

COVENTRY, RI — State police confirmed they have arrested state Sen. Nicholas Kettle. According to Lt. Col. Joseph Philbin. He was taken into custody around 2:25 p.m. Friday at his Richmond business office and without incident. Kettle is being charged with felony video voyeurism. State police said they also had an arrest warrant for him from Superior Court. A grand jury indicted him for extortion.
Philbin said he didn't know if Kettle would be held over the weekend or where the arraignment would take place. The uncertainty was due to the timing late Friday, he said. At the time Philbin spoke to Patch, Kettle was on his way back to state police headquarters. No plea had been entered, as yet.
Kettle, a Republican, represents District 21, which includes Coventry, West Greenwich, Scituate and Foster. An investigation came to light Jan. 16 when state police raided his home and reportedly were looking for material on his computer and cell phones. Previously, he said he was being investigated in connection with a break-up with a former girl friend.
