UPDATE: Power Will Likely Remain Out Through Night
A huge swath of land across much of Coventry is in the dark.

About 8,000 homes are without power in Coventry after strong storms ripped through the area Tuesday morning, and National Grid does not expect power to be restored until early Wednesday morning.
The National Grid Power Outage Map shows a huge swath of land from central Coventry to the Connecticut border in the dark after heavy winds took down tree limbs and even toppled some trees. There are also smaller pockets of outages scattered throughout the town.
National Grid, which is dealing with power outages all over the state, is assessing the situation and assigning crews to fix the damage. The power company is anticipating restoring power sometime after midnight tonight, but with the volume of outages, there’s no guarantee of when the lights will come back on.
