RHODE ISLAND — Does the cold not stop you from getting outside? If you're looking for something to do outdoors this winter, the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management will have you covered, when they stock additional ponds with fish to catch.

For those looking to go fishing, DEM officials will stock another two Rhode Island ponds with brook and rainbow trout. Trout stocking begins Wednesday and will continue through Friday.

The following waterways will be stocked with fish:

  • Carolina Trout Pond in Richmond
  • Carbuncle Pond in Coventry.

Cyanobacteria alerts may prevent stocking in some ponds and lakes.

An updated fishing license is required for all anglers 15 and older. DEM officials also said a trout conservation stamp is required for anyone wishing to keep a trout or to fish in a catch-and-release or "fly-fishing only" area.
