Blue Ridge Beef Recalling Dog and Cat Food Sold In Rhode Island
Rhode Island state health officials say the recall was the recall due to salmonella and listeria monocytogenes contamination.

RHODE ISLAND — Blue Ridge Beef has recalled certain dog and cat foods sold in Rhode Island, a spokesperson for the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) said Thursday.
RIDOH officials said the recall was for specific lots of Kitten Mix and Puppy Mix due to salmonella and listeria monocytogenes contamination. Salmonella and listeria monocytogenes can affect animals eating the products, and there is risk to pet owners from handling contaminated dog and cat food, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands.
This recall includes all lot numbers between N24 1114 to N24 1224 of two-pound logs of Kitten Grind, two-pound logs of Kitten Mix, and two-pound logs of Puppy Mix. Impacted products have the following UPCs: 854298001016, 854298001436, and 854298001696.

Pets with salmonella and listeria infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, call your veterinarian, state officials said.
These products were distributed between Nov. 14, 2023 and Dec. 20, 2023. They were packaged in clear plastic and sold primarily in retail stores in many states, including Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
