Cranston Firefighter Injured, Dog Rescued From Fire
Smoke poured from a roof on Cranston Street on Wednesday.

CRANSTON, RI — Crews responded to a fire at 1532 Cranston St., on Wednesday. According to deputy Chief Paul Valletta, the first alarm was sounded at 12:32 p.m., and it went to two alarms. Five engines, three ladder trucks and three rescues went to the scene along with a special hazards truck.
One firefighter suffered an injury to his elbow. None of the residents was home, but firefighters rescued a dog from the first floor apartment. Three families have been displaced, due to the damage, the deputy chief said.
The fire department believes the fire started on a first floor porch, extended inside the walls and went up through the roof. Crews returned to the station at 5 p.m.
