Cranston Man, 19, Accused Of Robbery At Knifepoint

CRANSTON, RI — A Cranston teenager was arrested and charged in connection with an armed robbery, police said. Izaiah M. Rivera Richard, 19, was charged with first-degree robbery.

The robbery happened just before 1 p.m. on Jan. 7 at the Ocean State Mobil gas station on Elmwood Avenue. Richard is accused of threatening the store clerk with a knife and demanding all the money in the cash register. He then drove away in a car heading east on Park Avenue, police said.

The car had been reported stolen from the parking lot of a Providence restaurant earlier that day, police said, and was later found abandoned by Providence police.

Following a weeks-long investigation, Cranston police arrested Richard at his Providence home last Wednesday morning. He was arraigned and held at the Adult Corrections Institution on $30,000 bail.
