Cranston Man Sold Gun Linked To 2017 Boston Shooting: US Attorney

Lucilo Mena, 56, allegedly started dealing firearms without a license in April 2017, court papers show.

CRANSTON, RI—Eight Rhode Islanders have been charged in connection with "lie and buy cases" involving firearms. According to the U.S. Attorneys Office, these men allegedly made false statements on forms they gave to federally license gun dealers when they bought weapons. One of the accused is from Cranston.

Lucilo Mena, 56, allegedly started dealing firearms without a license in April 2017, court papers show. The authorities allege he made false statements on Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives forms he signed. One of the weapons he bought and sold was connected to a 2017 Boston shooting.

"Mena is charged by way of a federal indictment with one count each of false statements during the purchase of a firearm and engaging in the business of dealing firearms without a license," the U.S. Attorney's office said.
