Maj. Todd Patalano said, "I can confirm we had an accidental discharge of a single round and that the incident is being reviewed by a Departmental Supervisory Shooting Review Team which is standard operating procedure when an incident such as this occurs. When the discharge occurred the agency with jurisdiction in this case (Braintree PD) was immediately notified and an investigation was completed. The officer remains on duty and there is no evidence at this time to suggest anything further than accidental. No one was seriously injured and we cannot provide further information until the investigation and shooting review is completed."
