Cranston Police Release Video Of Ambush Gun Attack

CRANSTON — The Cranston Police Department released video footage of Wednesday's brazen, broad daylight gun attack outside the Garden City Center LA Fitness.

The video shows the target of the attack sauntering through the parking lot from the fitness center until he comes face-to-face with the gunman. He then abruptly turns and makes a run for it as his attacker brandishes what appears to be a handgun and gives chase.

The target of the attack drops his gym bag as he flees and makes it to safety as the gunman breaks off the pursuit and returns to a waiting vehicle that quickly departs the parking lot.

Two men — Andres Pizarro, 21, of Falls River, Massachusetts, and Andre Ross, 21, of Pawtucket — were captured in the Providence Place Mall parking garage following a pursuit up Interstate 95, police said.

Pizarro and Ross were charged with numerous felonies.

The target of the gun attack provided little assistance to investigators, police said.

"The victim, who has a lengthy criminal record and known gang affiliations in Massachusetts, has refused to cooperate with investigators," police said.
