Cranston Woman Charged with Child Rape, Providing Man Access to Underage Victims
Raquel Delgado, 67, is accused of assaulting two children and giving a 31-year-old Providence man access to victims.
CRANSTON, RI—A 67-year-old Cranston woman has been indicted on multiple sexual assault charges for allegedly raping and assaulting children and providing a 31-year-old Providence man access to underage victims.
In a secret indictment, Raquel Delgado, of 135 Westwood Ave., was charged with two first-degree sexual assault counts, along with three counts of second-degree sexual assault, one count of assault with intent to commit sexual assault and two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon. She was also charged with two counts of simple assault.
Delgado allegedly provided Sergio Resto, 31, of 664 Plainfield St., Providence, access to children after she was informed by the state Department of Children, Youth and Families that he was not to have access to those individuals.

Delgado allegedly assaulted two of the victims, according to the state Attorney General’s Office.
Resto was arrested last year by Cranston police and is being held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions.

At the time of his arrest, police said the investigation began after a 14-year-old victim in 2014 made a complaint that she was raped. In May of 2015, a 16-year-old boy accused him of simlar acts.
Both victims were living with Resto in Cranston at the time of the assaults, according to police reports.
Cranston police detectives along with investigators from the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families conducted an “extensive investigation” with help from the state AG’s office, according to Cranston Police Chief Col. Michael J. Winquist.
The secret indictment charging Delgado was unsealed Wednesday.
Delgado was arrested on Jan. 15 by Cranston police. She was arraigned Tuesday and is also being held without bail at the ACI. She is due to appear in court for a bail hearing on Feb. 9.
Resto is due to be arraigned in Superior Court on Feb. 3.
