Crate and Barrel Opens in Garden City Center

CRANSTON, RI—The long-awaited opening of Crate and Barrel in Garden City Center is here.

The new store opened Wednesday.

The store is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily except for Sunday hours of 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The company announced that the store was coming to the popular destination shopping center in Cranston last summer.

The 15,000 square foot store, tucked between Sephora and The Container Store, helps solidify Garden City's place as one of the premiere high-end shopping centers in the state. When the store was announced, a spokeswoman for the center's management company, The Wilder Companies, said "The addition of Crate and Barrel puts the finishing touch on a unique retail mix that offers design aficionados, those looking for a home makeover, and even those just starting out with a destination home design and decor shopping location."

Crate and Barrel's opening also marks the completion of a major component of a long-term expansion and renovation of the shopping center, which began several years ago and has transformed what was once a semi-dead part of Garden City. An area that is now home to Barrington Books, LA Fitness and the other aforementioned stores was the vacant shell of a former Circuit City, a shuttered Borders Books and drab flat facades.
