Family members said the victim, 33, has been in and out of surgery and is showing signs of improvement but has a long road to recovery ahead.

“He shouldn’t be the one lying down on that [hospital] bed,” Haider said.

The family has established a GoFundMe to help defray some of the medical costs.

Police are aggressively searching for the suspect, who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a skeleton mask and gloves.
