Gas Prices Continue Slide In RI, Drop 12 Cents Since Last Week
Gas prices in Rhode Island are now below the national average, which sat at $3.71 Monday.
RHODE ISLAND — Rhode's Island's gas prices continued heading in the right direction, continuing a trend that's gone on for most of the summer.
Since last week, the average price for a gallon of gas dropped 12 cents in the Ocean State, according to AAA Northeast.
As of Monday, gas prices in Rhode Island are sitting at $3.69 per gallon, according to AAA Northeast. Monday's price was also 53 cents lower than it was a month ago, at $4.22, but 62 cents higher than Aug. 29 last year at $3.07.

Gas prices in Rhode Island are now below the national average, which sat at $3.71 Monday.
"Less expensive oil usually leads to less expensive gas for drivers," said Lloyd Albert, Senior Vice President of Government and Public Affairs for AAA Northeast. "This trend has helped pump prices fall steadily for three straight months and, with fall approaching, more markets could soon see prices drop toward or below $3 per gallon."

As of Tuesday, the current average price for a gallon of gas in Rhode Island was $3.67 for the cheap stuff, $4.27 for mid-grade, $4.60 for premium and $4.98 for diesel.
