MA Men Charged In Cranston Pregame Lounge Shooting

Giovanni Pina, 24, and Travone Bonnett, 28, were involved in a drive-by shooting outside the lounge on March 28.

CRANSTON, RI — Two Brockton, Massachusetts men as facing charges in connection with a shooting outside a Cranston club last month. Giovanni Pina, 24, and Travone Bonnett, 28, face several gun charges, Cranston police said.

The shooting happened not long after midnight on March 28, outside the PreGame Lounge on Dyer Avenue. The street was littered with shell casings as panicked patrons ran out of the club, police said. No injuries were reported, which police called "miraculous" given the circumstances. Two other businesses had windows broken by the shooting, police said.

Surveillance video showed the shooting, police said, which happened outside the club and showed the men involved. Police were able to identify the suspects in part using the "Flock" license plate system.

According to police, Bonnet and Pina are rivals, and were both inside the lounge before the shooting. After an argument, a white Suburban slowed down in front of the club, where Bonnet was standing. A person inside the vehicle then shot at Bonnet, police said, hitting another vehicle before driving away.

Arrest warrants were issued for both Bonnet and Pina last Thursday, police said. Officers approached Bonnet at Crunch Gym in Brockton, where he tried to run away before he was arrested. He had a Glock .40 caliber gun and a large amount of cash with him at the time, police said. Along with gun charges in Massachusetts, Bonnet was charged with firing in a compact area and gun license violations in Rhode Island.
