RHODE ISLAND — It’s National Donut Day on Friday, and several Rhode Island restaurants and donut shops are offering a sweet deal or two to lure in donut lovers across the state.
It’s hard to say no. From classic glazed to novelty donuts topped with fruit, frostings, and cereals, the options are endless. It’s even harder when some of your favorite donut shops are offering these tasty treats for free.
Whether you’re swinging through the drive-thru or ordering delivery, Patch scoured the internet and rounded up a few of this year’s best National Donut Day specials, deals, offers, and freebies.

KNEAD Donuts: KNEAD is bringing back two of its most popular special donuts to celebrate the day. You can try the s'mores donut, made with toasted house-made fluff, on a graham cracker old fashioned. There is also the birthday cake crumble. It's a brioche donut with vanilla buttercream, topped with birthday cake crumbles.
Dunkin’: Customers can snag a free classic donut by purchasing any drink.

Taco Bell: Purchase at least $20 worth of Taco Bell from DoorDash, Uber Eats, Postmates or Grubhub on June 2, and you’ll get an order of Cinnabon Delights for free.
7-Eleven: Historically, the national chain has offered buy one, get one free donuts for 7Rewards and Speedy Rewards members at participating 7-Eleven, Speedway, and Stripes stores.
National Donut Day was created by the Salvation Army in 1938 as a way to honor the organization’s “Donut Lassies” who supported troops on the front lines during World War I.
National Donut Day is celebrated annually on the first Friday in June.
