No Jail Time For Peter Palumbo: AG

The former Cranston state rep pleaded no contest to charges he took money from his campaign account and used it for personal expenses.

CRANSTON, RI — Peter Palumbo will repay the campaign funds he was accused of misusing. The arrangement is part of a plea deal, the state Attorney General's office said Monday. Palumbo, the former state rep for Cranston, has pleaded no contest to charges he took money from his campaign account and used it for personal expenses.

Palumbo, 56, was charged with unlawful appropriation. He was sentenced to three years, suspended with probation and ordered to pay back $31,150.54. The state dismissed additional charges, one count of embezzlement and one count of personal use of campaign funds.
