Parking Ban Begins Saturday Morning in Cranston

The ban begins promptly at 9 a.m.

CRANSTON, RI—A parking ban is in effect at 9 a.m. in Cranston as the first major winter storm of the season is expected to bring snow, wind and treacherous road conditions.

City officials have been gearing up for the storm all week and the city’s Department of Public Works is ready to hit the streets as soon as the snow begins to accumulate, said Cranston Mayor Allan W. Fung.

“Friends… While it looks like we’ll be spared from catastrophic snowfall totals, we are going to be out in force as the storm hits,” the mayo said. “As always, please drive sensibly and with extreme caution in all winter weather conditions.”

The Cranston Police Department is expecting residents to abide by the ban. Keeping streets clear is important for a variety of reasons but perhaps the most important is to ensure police and firefighters have access to every neighborhood in the event of an emergency.

The ban will be in effect until further notice.
