Providence Men Accused Of Assaulting Mail Carrier
A federal indictment accused the pair of trying to steal a package containing cocaine from a U.S. Postal Carrier.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Two Providence men are accused of attacking a postal worker and attempting to traffick more than 500 grams of cocaine. Juan Bautista Rosario-Sandoval, 29, and Duralline Azcona Rodriguez, 24, were charged last week in a federal indictment.
Rosario-Sandoval was charged with conspiracy to assault and rob a U.S. mail carrier, assault and robbery of a U.S. mail carrier, and conspiracy to possess more than 500 grams of cocaine.Rodrigues was charged with conspiracy to possess more than 500 grams of cocaine.
According to the indictment, Rosario-Sandoval and another person approached a mail carrier and tried to take a package intended for a Providence address by force. When the carrier refused to give them the packaged, the pair reportedly opened the doors of the postal truck, punching and tugging at them. Rodriguez was in a nearby vehicle to assist, the indictment said.

The package reportedly contained more than 500 grams of cocaine.
If convicted on the drug charges, the pair face up to 40 years in prison, while the assault charge carries up to 10 years in prison.
