RHODE ISLAND — With 2023 about to end, and 2024 coming on New Year's Day, it's time to review some of the trends that defined Rhode Island this year.

The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) on Wednesday released its preliminary list for the top baby names of 2022 in the Ocean State.

Noah was the top baby name for boys in Rhode Island, rising from its No. 2 spot in 2022. Liam, which was the top name in 2021 and 2022, remained popular, coming in at No. 2 in the Ocean State.

The most popular girl name was Charlotte. This was the second year in a row, Charlotte was the top girl name in Rhode Island.
