RHODE ISLAND — TreeHouse Foods has recalled several frozen waffle products due to potential listeria contamination, the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) said Monday.
These products were sold under the following brand names:

- Hannaford
- Harris Teeter

- Price Chopper
- Publix
- Schnucks
- Selection
- SE Grocer
- Simple Truth
- Tops
- Western Family.

RIDOH officials said the recalled products were distributed throughout the United States and Canada. This issue was discovered through routine testing at the manufacturing facility.

State health officials said people should check their freezers for any of these products they may have bought in recent months. Anyone who has purchased these products should not eat them, Consumers should throw them away or return them to where they were bought.
Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems, the department said. Healthy people who are infected may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, however, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
