Suspect Swiped Elderly Woman's Bag, $1153 Cash: Cranston Police

CRANSTON, RI—An 86-year-old woman was robbed Wednesday (March 21) morning while she was shopping at the Plainfield Pike Walmart. Police say surveillance cameras caught a picture of the suspect. He allegedly swiped her pocketbook from her shopping cart. Inside the bag was $1,153 cash, which she had just withdrawn from the bank before going shopping. The pocketbook was later found, but the cash was gone.

Cranston police ask anyone with information to call detectives at 401-477-5150. The suspect was identified as Tyrell Rivera Carpenter, 19, of South Providence.
