'Tumultuous Situation': Police Arrest Two at Donald Trump Rally

Two young men were arraigned on charges of assault and disorderly conduct after an alleged shoving match outside Trump's Warwick rally.

Warwick, RI - Rhode Island State Police arrested two men over an altercation outside a Donald Trump rally here earlier this week, arraigned Wednesday on charges of Simple Assault and Disorderly Conduct.

According to a report out from state police Thursday, 19-year-old Josh Sandin and 22-year-old Alexander Carrion began fighting and, ultimately, pushing and shoving one another at the Trump rally, video footage showed.

The press release said that video footage circulating on social media showed "a very volatile and tumultuous situation on Greenwich Avenue," the site of the rally.

According to allegations based on that video footage, Carrion aggressively pushed his way through the Trump supporters, moved toward Sandin, and then spit in Sandin's face. The two allegedly then started pushing and shoving one another until they were separated by bystanders.

State troopers assigned to the rally's security detail initially couldn't determine what happened, due to conflicting witness accounts and to lack of cooperation by the two young men, the police press release said.

The two were arraigned at state police headquarters by a Justice of the Peace Wednesday, and given a pre-trial court date of May 9.

A conviction on charges of assault, battery, or both could entail imprisonment for up to one year, a fine of up to $1,000, or both. Disorderly conduct convictions could yield up to six months in prison or a fine of, at most, $500.
