RHODE ISLAND — Some residents of Rhode Island will get a second payment from the Social Security Administration in May.

People who receive Supplemental Security Income, or SSI, will get their usual payments on May 1, and then a second payment on May 30.

That’s because June 1 falls on a Sunday. SSI payments are typically issued on the first day of the month, but are moved ahead if the first falls on a weekend or holiday, the agency explained.
