East Greenwich Town Offices To Close Tuesday For Gianna Cirella
The 16-year-old Toll Gate High student died last week after battling a blood infection. Her father is deputy police Chief Stanley Cirella.

EAST GREENWICH, RI—Gianna Cirella was a familiar face at the East Greenwich police station for a good reason. Her father, Stanley, is the Town's deputy police chief, and she used to visit him at work. Gianna, 16, died last week after suffering a blood infection and complications. She was a junior at Toll Gate High and a member of the girls' varsity soccer team. Her teammates held vigils and wore her favorite color purple for her.
Tomorrow she is being buried from St. Kevin Church in Warwick. The funeral procession from the church to Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery in North Kingstown will pass by the police station around 11 a.m. Afterwards, Town Hall will be closed from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. At the East Greenwich police station, town employees plan to hold a community gathering to support the family and remember her. People are invited to come and wear purple in Gianna's memory.
