Five Things: Blood, Talent & Teens

EGHS Talent Show: The Acting Class of East Greenwich High School presents its annual Talent Show tonight at 7 p.m. in the East Greenwich High School auditorium. Tickets are $10; a combo ticket for both nights can be purchased in advance for $15. Come celebrate the amazing talents of EGHS students in this community event.

Su Casa at the Greenwich Hotel: Su Casa is playing the Greenwich Hotel tonight with special guests Dizzy Bats (of Brooklyn, N.Y.). Each band will play two alternating sets. Su Casa is a four-piece musical group from Rhode Island, USA. Their sound is inspired by the American singer-songwriter tradition, with a unique blend of vocal harmonies over rootsy garage pop, country rock, and a touch of surf. 

Blood Drive at Swift: If you are able to donate, consider stopping by Swift Community Center between 1 and 5 p.m. on Friday. Donated blood saves lives.

Teen Center: The Teen Center has provided a great place to hang out on Friday evenings for decades now. They meet at the gym at Eldredge School but you don’t have to play basketball to enjoy the camaraderie. From 6 to 8 p.m.

Waterfire documentary: The Southern Rhode Island premiere of the documentary, WaterFire: Art & Soul of a City, takes place Saturday night at the Greenwich Odeum. To read reviews , click here. Two-time New England Emmy award-winning executive producer and former television sportscaster Joe Rocco, in cooperation with WaterFire Providence and its creator, artistic director and award-winning sculptor Barnaby Evans. A team of award-winning broadcast professionals shot and collected more than 50 hours of WaterFire video and commentary from interviews with a variety of professionals from the worlds of art, architecture, history, government and business. Evans and Rocco will be on hand after the screening to talk about the making of this documentary and take questions from the audience. Click here to buy tickets online. Story Hour at Symposium Books: Children (and their adults) are invited to Story Hour at Symposium Books . Every week they pick a new story and read it to the kids with animal crackers and fun. Favorite stories are "No Matter What" and "Jungle Explorer." Come early and help pick the story, and better yet, there is a 10 percent additional discount on everything in the store during story hour! 11:30 a.m.

Coastal Growers Winter Farmers Market: The Winter Farmers Market in North Kingstown features many vendors from the EG Farmers Market as well as some others. Miss your Tallulah’s Tacos? You can pick some up at the winter market! You can also pick up produce, meat, baked goods and artisan goods. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lafayette Mill at 650 Ten Rod Road in North Kingstown.
