Five Things: Hello March! Glad To See You

Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, March 1.

Happy March!

Teen Center:
The Teen Center has provided a great place to hang out on Friday evenings for decades now. They meet at the gym at Eldredge School but you don’t have to play basketball to enjoy the camaraderie. From 6 to 8 p.m.

Water Street closed:
Water Street at the Barbara Tuft's Playground (Lion Street) will be closed 24 hours a day for approximately 3 more weeks. No traffic will be able to pass because of the vertical trench sheeting that will be in the road. This construction is to replace the 90-year-old sewer main from the bottom of King Street to the Waste Water Treatment Facility. If you have any questions, contact the Department of Public Works at 886-8618.

Pickup hockey: URI’s Boss Ice Arena offers a public hockey program available to men and women 14 years of age and older. If you're looking for a fun pickup game or if you're looking to challenge yourself against other competition, the Boss Arena is the place to be. All participants are required to wear full equipment. It takes place Monday and Wednesday too. From noon to 2 p.m., $6 per person.

On Saturday …

Booster Club’s Ultimate Hoedown:
It's time to giddy up and head on over to the second annual Booster Bash benefitting East Greenwich Athletics! The Ultimate Hoedown-Booster Throwdown takes place Saturday, March 2 (the blizzard date!) at the Quonset O Club. Bull rides, line dancing, appetizers, dinner, dessert and silent auction – all for $40 per person ($45 at the door), 21+. Please mosey on over to their website (www.goavengers.org) to register. Don't miss the party of the year! It will be a boot-scootin' good time!
