Five Things: Planning Board, Blizzard Debris

Planning Board meeting: The agenda includes an update on the Town Comprehensive Plan revisions. The meeting takes place in Council Chambers at Town Hall at 7 p.m.

Blizzard debris pickup: According to the Public Works Department, tree debris from the February blizzard is still being picked up. If you have tree branches, move them curbside and the DPW should get to them in the next week or two.

Girls on the Run sign ups: Registration is now open for Girls on the Run in East Greenwich. The mission of GOTRRI is to "inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running.” Read about the program here, or check out their website. This spring, there are two programs in East Greenwich open to girls in grades 3-5:  Rocky Hill School: Tuesdays & Thursdays 3:30-4:45, starts March 5th (no sessions 3/12, 14, 19, 21), and Meadowbrook Elementary: Mondays & Wednesdays 3:30-4:45, starts March 11th (no sessions 4/15+17, 5/27). EG Senior Center Artist Show: The artists have their works on display at the EG Free Library during regular business hours through the end of the month. The artists reception is Tuesday, March 26, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

On Thursday …

International Idol at EGHS: This event is always a highlight of the school year. Foreign language students perform songs in their language of study. At 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium at the high school.

On Saturday …

St. Thomas Boys Choir concert Saturday: One of the premier boys choirs in the world – the St. Thomas Church Boys Choir of New York City – will be performing at St. Luke’s Saturday afternoon at 4. Admission is free but donations are accepted. A reception will follow.

On Sunday …

Special Olympics Polar Plunge:  The 6th Annual Torch Run Plunge takes place at the beach at Goddard Park Sunday at noon, with signups starting at 10 a.m. To kick off the festivities, Richmond Police Chief Elwood Johnson will be taking the plunge at Goddard 24 times (!!!) – once an hour – starting at noon Saturday. There is a $50 minimum to participate in the plunge on Sunday ,or a $15 donation to join the after party. Cherish the Ladies: The famous Irish music group returns to the Odeum just a week before St. Patrick’s Day. Leader of the group, Joanie Madden, is sister of EG resident Joe Madden. The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $30. Click here to order.
