Five+ Things: Sandy, Sandy … And Sandy
Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, Oct. 29.

No School: No word yet on Tuesday, but we’ll keep you posted.
No Senior Services: Senior service activities are cancelled for today.
No trash pickup: There is no trash pickup on Monday. Trash will be delayed at least a day. Residents with Monday pickup will occur on Wednesday, and the remainder of the week will have a one-day delay. Do not put yard waste at the curb before, during the storm, or the week of Oct. 29. Town crews will resume yard waste pickup once emergency cleanup is over.
No Farmers Market: We are very sad to report that the last market of the season is cancelled.
No Town Council Meeting: The next Town Council meeting is Monday, Nov. 12.
Shelter: The Red Cross has established a regional shelter for East Greenwich residents at Warwick Veterans High School. The East Greenwich Police Department community room is a staging area for residents seeking shelter and who are unable to get to the regional shelter on their own. The Police Department can be contacted at 884-2244.
Sand and sandbags: These are available outside of the gates at the Highway Garage at Bear Swamp Road, off Frenchtown Road.
If you lose power: Contact National Grid at 800-322-3223 or contact the Police Department at 884-2244 to let them know of outages. National Grid needs to know specifically what neighborhoods are out of power. Stay away from downed power lines and assume they are energized and dangerous.
Water: If you are not on public water and depend on well water, the Fire District will provide water to residents but you will need to go to fire station #2 at 1180 Frenchtown Road. The station is manned 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
One last thing: If you have information or photos about the storm, let me know. You can upload photos at http://patch.com/A-pqr6, call me at 401-924-4233, or email me at elizabeth.mcnamara@patch.com. Thanks!
