Five Things: School Committee, LAC Parent Training

Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, March 5.

School Committee meeting: The agenda includes adoption of the 2013-14 budget (which you can read about here) and discussion of the 2013-14 graduation requirements.

Do you have a disabled child? EGSD is partnering with R.I. Parent Information Network (RIPIN) to provide leadership training to parents of students with disabilities specifically as it relates to the roles and responsibilities of our Local Advisory Committee on Special Education (LAC). There will be an informational meeting with Deb Belanger from RIPIN Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the library at East Greenwich High School. If you have any questions, please contact the EG Office of Student Services at 401-398-1230.

Girls on the Run sign ups: Registration is now open for Girls on the Run in East Greenwich. The mission of GOTRRI is to "inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running.” Read about the program here, or check out their website. This spring, there are two programs in East Greenwich open to girls in grades 3-5:  Rocky Hill School: Tuesdays & Thursdays 3:30-4:45, starts March 5th (no sessions 3/12, 14, 19, 21), and Meadowbrook Elementary: Mondays & Wednesdays 3:30-4:45, starts March 11th (no sessions 4/15+17, 5/27). Post on Patch: Post announcements and events about cool, great, amazing things going on in and nearby EG and you are helping all of us be better connected to our community. If you have something you’d like to see on the EG Patch calendar, upload it by clicking here and finding the “Add an Event” tab on the right. (The Events Calendar is my go-to spot for the daily Five Things column, so if you’d like to see your event featured, make sure to post it on the calendar! If you have something you’d like to post as an announcement, you can do that by clicking here. I routinely post Announcements to the EG Patch home page. And if you have a great photo you think EG Patch readers would enjoy, post it to that day’s Five Things column. I am always looking for photos to use for Five Things and I would love to use yours!

EG Senior Center Artist Show: The artists have their works on display at the EG Free Library during regular business hours through the end of the month. The artists reception is Tuesday, March 26, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
