Five+ Things: School’s Back In Session

Power returns, school resumes: After three unplanned days off, EG Public Schools are back in session. Power was restored to Meadowbrook, EGHS, and Frenchtown late afternoon Wednesday, allowing for school to resume.
Trash pickup: If your trash is usually picked up on Wednesdays, it will be picked up today. The remainder of the week will have a one-day delay. If you have storm debris, DPW asks you move it to the curb and they will pick it up as soon as they can. No yard waste will be picked up this week. Town crews will resume yard waste pickup once emergency cleanup is over. The Transfer Station will be open Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Cove Commission meeting: The panel will hear from the water dock subcommittee and the harbormaster. The meeting takes place at 4:30 p.m. at Town Hall in the conference room across from Council Chambers.
Farmers Market in West Warwick: Thundermist Health Center and Farm Fresh Rhode Island are hosting a Farmers Market at Thundermist's medical location, the cotton shed, in West Warwick. Three local farmers are present, along with a rotating cast of community groups with activities, nutrition information, and opportunities for free food! At 186 Providence St., West Warwick, from 3 to 6 p.m.
Luniac Glamour Trunk Sale Thursdays: It’s ladies night out at Luniac Glamour on Main Street for Trunk Sale Thursdays this fall. They will be featuring local designers, new jewelry, clothes, and gifts. Each week they will feature different designers to showcase their wares. Every Thursday night beginning Oct. 11 through Nov. 15. From 7 to 9 p.m.
Common Cause Annual Meeting: Join Common Cause Rhode Island for their 42nd Annual Meeting – Keeping Democracy, the Lessig Perspective – a dinner featuring Professor Lawrence Lessig, the Roy L. Furman Professor of Law and Leadership at Harvard Law School and Director of the Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics at Harvard University. Lessig is a leading expert in intellectual property law and the corruptive influence of money on democracy and an entertaining multi-media presenter. At the Warwick Crowne Plaza from 6 to 8 p.m. $55.
