Five Things: Thursday Concert, Free Dinner

Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, July 25.

RI Rednecks at Academy: Come on down to Academy Field, located next to the Swift Community Center, for the Summer Concert Series sponsored by EG Parks & Rec. This week the R.I. Rednecks will have you stomping along to some classic Country music. All ages are welcome to attend. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on. In case of rain the concert will be take place in the Swift Gym. From 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Pre-concert dinner: You can get a free dinner before the R.I. Rednecks take the stage, at St. Luke’s Church across the parking lot. All are welcome; donations are appreciated. Dinner is served from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Children's Performance: Come on down to the HS Auditorium for the weekly children's performance series sponosored by the EG Parks & Recreation Department.  Each week a different performer is featured. This final week Rolie Polie Guacamole will entertain with some fabulous songs. Parents must accompany their children and there is no admission fee or pre-registration required. From 1:30 to 2:15 p.m.

Bobby Justin @ American Legion Hall: The vibrant, entertaining Bobby Justin sings at the American Legion Friday starting at 7 p.m. He has performed at such places as the Sahara and Dunes Hotels in Las Vegas. You can currently find Bobby performing all over New England. He also has a regular spot as the featured performer on the Bay Queen Cruises.

On Saturday …

Emergency Preparedness workshop: Westminster Unitarian Church is offering a free workshop to help you prepare for hurricane season. Lunch will be provided. To register, go to the church website at www.westminsteruu.org and look for the storm preparation link.

On Sunday …

Fundraiser for barber Nathan White: Nathan, the Barber of Town Barber in East Greenwich, has been in the hospital since July 3. While his health is improving he still has a long road to recovery ahead. In an effort to salvage his business, a fundraiser for Nathan White will be held at the Endzone Sunday from 4pm -?. Tickets cost $20 dollars a person, buffet included. Please know that all funds raised will be used to pay past due rent and utilities to maintain the Town Barber Shop.

Summer's End UPDATE: Summer’s End, everyone’s favorite East Greenwich event, will have TWO masters of ceremony this year: Gene Valicenti and Ken Bell, both local boys. The concert will be Friday, Aug. 30. But SAFO needs our help make the concert happen. You can read all about it here.
