Hit and Run Driver Arrested, Bank Card Stolen and Returned: EG Police Log
Plus, a pair of flower pots in front of a Main Street business were smashed.

LEAVING THE SCENE
A 27-year-old Warwick woman was charged with leaving the scene of an accident on Jan. 21 after she turned herself in to police.
Police said the accident occurred on Dec. 24 and police tracked down Marissa R. Deshaies, 27, of 117 Silby St., Warwick, on Jan. 20 with the help of police in Warwick, who were able to make contact with her by telephone and tell her to turn herself in to East Greenwich police.
Deshaies came to East Greenwich police headquarters the following morning and was later release with a District Court summons. She is due to appear on Feb. 5.

BANK CARD REPORTED STOLEN, THEN PUT BACK
A 19-year-old North Kingstown man reported to police on Jan. 22 that someone took his debit card from his vehicle parked outside his place of employment, used it to make two purchases at Stop and Shop, and then put the card back.
According to a police report, the man said that he discovered the theft when his bank told him his checking account was overdrawn. He thought that was strange since the card was still in his possession.

The man said that he went to Stop and Shop and was told that the suspect used the card to buy a $300 Visa gift card and some cigarettes.
Police said the man denied that he made any of the charges on his card and said he was working at the time of the purchases, which he said were at 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 20.
Police said they went to the man’s place of employment and watched video from the date of the alleged theft and it was difficult to see if anyone went near his vehicle because it was parked in a blind spot.
UTILITY TRAILER STOLEN
East Greenwich police are investigating the theft of a utility cart from a Taggart Court residence recently.
Police said the homeowner told them that she noticed the cart missing on Jan. 19 and it could have been missing for more than a month when she discovered it the day before.
The cart, which is pulled by a lawn mower, was located under a tarp that was removed and put over other items in her yard, police said.
Police said the trailer was valued at $300.
CAMERA FOUND
A Sixth Avenue resident on Jan. 18 brought a camera she found at the Main Street Dunkin Donuts for police to hold for safekeeping.
Police said the woman indicated she saw two boys with the camera before she went into the restroom. When she came out, they were gone but the camera was sitll there.
The camera, a silver Minolta, was tagged and placed in the short-term evidence closet.
iPHONE FOUND
An East Greenwich police officer walking in the police headquarters parking lot on Jan. 17 found an iPhone in the snow.
According to a police report, the officer noticed the phone was in an Otterbox case but the screen was cracked and the phone was wet. The screen likely cracked from being pushed around by a snowplow clearing snow at the time, police said.
The phone is believed to belong to a town employee and was put in a temporary locker for safekeeping.
MISSING PLATES
The owners of Roofing Concepts on South County Trail reported to police on Jan. 19 that the registration plates of two company vehicles were missing.
The missing plates were discovered during a fleet inventory, according to a police report, and were recorded by police as stolen.
FLOWER POTS VANDALIZED
Someone knocked over two flower pots in front of Greenwich Bay Oyster Bar on Main Street Sometime between late Jan. 19 and early Jan. 20.
An officer on patrol on Main Street at around 1:41 a.m. noticed the large flower pots knocked over.
The officer reported that the pots were too heavy to have been knocked over by the wind. There did not appear to be any other property damage in the area.
POT HOLE
A Coventry man on Jan. 20 told police that his tire and rim was damaged when he hit a pothole on Center of New England Boulevard at around 6:20 p.m.
The cost to replace the wheel and tire on his 2015 Ford XLT was estimated to be $650. Police documented the incident.
