Police Log: An Unpaid Pizza Bill & Spilled Coffee

Tuesday, Feb. 26

11:47 a.m. – Police arrested Walter Tierney, 64, of Blackrock Road in Coventry, for driving with a suspended license after police noticed him speeding on Frenchtown Road (going 48 mph in a 40 mph area) and routine checks turned up the license violation. Police gave him a court summons for the license and a warning for speed. A relative drove the car from the scene.

2:40 p.m. – Police arrested Richard Matteson, 38, of Providence Street in West Warwick, on a bench warrant at a house on South Pierce Road. Matteson was processed at the station, then taken to the ACI.

6:52 p.m. – A staff member of Dimare Seafood told police an occasional patron has been disruptive on past visits so when he came in this day, the staff person asked him to leave. The patron began yelling and spilled a cup of coffee all over the floor on his way out. Police issued the patron a No Trespass order and he said he understood the order.

Wednesday, Feb. 27

11:14 a.m. – Residents of Main Street told police someone had smashed the back window of their car while it was parked in the building’s lot between 10:15 and 11 p.m.

Thursday, Feb. 28

11:56 a.m. – The owner of the McDonald’s on New London Avenue said an enter sign had been damaged during the blizzard in early February. It looked as if state plow trucks had pushed snow into the sign, causing it to bend over.

3:47 p.m. – Police arrested Brandon Quinn, 25, of King Street, on a bench warrant after police learned he was on Main Street. He was taken to the station for processing.

10:37 p.m. – Receiving a report of an ill opossum, police found the animal in the London Street underpass. Police euthanized it after seeing it didn’t avoid contact, did not seem bothered by light, and had trouble maintaining balance.

Friday, March 1

11:42 p.m. – A pizza delivery driver for Domino’s reported he’d dropped off $36.08 worth of food at a residence on Main Street but didn’t get paid. The man who’d taken the food said he’d be back with the money but he never returned and then refused to come out. Police followed up and the man said his girlfriend’s credit card had been denied. The Domino’s owner said the couple had 24 hours to pay up or he would press charges.
