Special Olympics Athletes Get Rock Star Sendoff At Meadowbrook
For the second year, Meadowbrook Farms students held a pep rally for EG students heading to URI over the weekend for the Special Olympics Summer Games.
The level of enthusiasm was extremely high Wednesday morning at Meadowbrook Farms Elementary School, as students gathered in the gym for a pep rally for the school district's Special Olympics athletes. This could have been a Justin Bieber concert, the cheers were so intense.Â
But Justin wasn't anywhere in the vicinity. Rather, it was student-athletes from preschool to high school who were going to be heading to the Special Olympics Summer Games at URI over the weekend.
Quite a send off. The video clip here shows the athletes as they filed out of the gym. The event was organized by Meadowbrook parent Meghan Giannelli and involved many student helpers as well as Special Olympics coach Lisa McKay.
