Superior Court Judge Cancels Corrigan's TM Appointment: ProJo

Judge Susan McGuirl's decision is not yet online, but the Providence Journal and WJAR say the judge said the appointment is invalid.

EAST GREENWICH, RI — The East Greenwich Town Council violated Open Meeting laws when it appointed Gayle Corrigan the new Town Manager, a Superior Court judge ruled today, according to the Providence Journal. The online Superior Court orders and decisions page does not yet reflect the ruling, and is often late to post information. However, according to the news report on WJAR-10 and the article in the Providence Journal, Judge Susan McGuirl's decision says the Corrigan appointment is "null and void" because the council failed to give the public sufficient notice, as required by the Town Charter. She also found the Open Meeting laws had been violated because the appointment wasn't listed on the Town Council meeting's agenda.
