5 Things to Know About Today

Warm and wet; summer camp opens; Rotary Club meets; food pantry open; learn to ballroom dance.

Here are five things you should know about today, July 8, in and around East Providence:

  1. Continued warm and wet with a few showers early and isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon and high temperature of  87 degrees. 
  2. The East Providence Parks and Recreation Department summer day camp opens at 8:30 am at Pierce Field, 201 Mercer St., and runs all day; you can still walk in and register with the proper form and a check for $50.
  3. The East Providence/Seekonk Rotary Club meets every Monday at 12:15 pm at Chelo’s Restaurant, 911 Warren Ave., Seekonk. 
  4. The St. Francis Xavier food pantry, 81 North Carpenter St., is open from 9:20 to 11 am for families to visit once each month with a valid government ID card.
  5. Ballroom dance classes are held every Monday at 2 pm at the East Providence senior center, 610 Waterman Ave.
