5 Things to Know About Weekend

Here are five things you should know about this weekend, July 5-7, in and around East Providence:
- Partly cloudy with a possibility of thunderstorms and temperatures approaching 90 degrees both days.
- East Providence celebrates Independence Day with fireworks and classic rock music tonight at Pierce Field, 201 Mercer St., with the gates opening at 6 pm; hosted by the Recreation Department.
- Ride the historic Looff Carousel at Crescent Park at 700 Bullocks Point Ave. in Riverside from noon to 8 pm each day.
- The Go Local farmers market continues at Barrington Congregational Church on Saturday from 9 am to noon.
- Weaver Library, 41 Grove Ave., has many new passes available to use over the weekend, including Battleship Cove, Southwick’s Zoo , Higgins Armory Museum in Worcester, Old Sturbridge Village and The Hall of Patriot Place. Click here to reserve a pass online.
