George J. Bursey Sr., 65, Decorated Vietnam Veteran
His funeral service is Monday, July 15, from Rebello Funeral Home in East Providence.

George J. Bursey Sr., of Cotter Street, East Providence, died July 10, 2013, at home. He was 65.
He was the husband of the late Susan Marie (DiIorio) Bursey. Born Feb. 19, 1948, in Lowell, MA, he was the son of George E. Bursey of Ellsworth, Maine and the late Louise (Curra) Ruff.
He was a decorated Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal with "V" (Valor) Device for acts of heroism performed by him and was twice awarded the Purple Heart Medal for wounds suffered while combating the enemy. He later worked as a salesman for the Overhead Door Company for 32 years.
In addtion to his father, he is survived by his daughter, Keri Bursey Lavoie and husband David of Barrington and his son, George J. Bursey Jr. and wife Beckie of Coventry, and 4 grandchildren.
He was the brother of Michael Bursey of NH and the late Linda Louise Bursey.
His funeral service will begin Monday, July 15, at 11am in the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
