
Happy Holidays - The news team here at East Providence Patch (all one of us) wishes you and yours happy holidays and a Merry Christmas. That's in two days, in case you want to get started on your shopping.
Holiday Rubbish Schedule - All holidays with the exception of (Presidents Day) will result in a one day delay in Rubbish, Recycling and Yard Waste (in season) collections for the remainder of the week. That means the schedule will be delayed one day staring Thursday.
Animal charity taking donations - The East Providence Volunteer Services for Animals is always in need of a helping hand or donation. In the last three months, the organization racked up about $10,000 worth of veterinary bills. Interested donors can also send funds to the center directly in care of the shelter: PO Box 16142, Rumford, 02916.
Giving Tree - To help make the holidays brighter for children in need, BankRI has partnered with 12 local non-profits to provide gifts for the less fortunate this holiday season. Gifts collected at the Bank’s East Providence branches at 999 S Broadway and 195 Taunton Ave. will benefit East Bay Community Action Program, while gifts collected in Woonsocket will help Connecting for Children & Families.
Councilors off till next year: The next City Council meeting is Jan. 7, 2014. Check here for a report from their last meeting Dec. 17, where they OK'd a tax stabilization plan and delayed a formal search for a permanent City Manager.
