Man, 24, Knocks Down Girlfriend's Mom

East Providence police have charged an Anthony Street man with domestic assault after he allegedly shoved the mother of his girlfriend to the kitchen floor.

An East Providence man, 24, faces a simple assault and battery charge after he allegedly knocked down his girlfriend’s mother early last Friday morning.

Jerry V. Dorsey III, of 122 Anthony St., reportedly shoved the 55-year-old woman during an altercation over a cell phone battery between his girlfriend and her mother between 7:30 and 7:45 am.

The woman apparently fell over a footstool and crashed into a refrigerator before falling to the floor after Dorsey allegedly grabbed her face with both hands and pushed her away from him. The woman was not injured. She asked police to press charges.

Dorsey and the woman's daughter left her home at that time. He turned himself in to police later that day.

He received a summons to appear in 6th District Court on June 4 to face the charge.
