A man visiting his cousin for dinner went suddenly and inexplicably berserk Dec. 11, tipping over a bookcase and knocking his host unconscious before police arrived to arrest him.
According to EP Officer Peter Cordeiro's report, he and two other officers were called to the 10 Indian Road home at 3:15 a.m. that morning by a woman who stated on the phone, "He's going to kill me."
When they arrived, Cordeiro reported he saw a woman with a bloody left eye waving them down. At the door to the home, he saw the screen was torn and there was blood on the door.
Inside the home, they found Thomas Walter Connors, 34, who lived at the address temporarily, on the couch with no shirt on, in a room surrounded by broken items, broken glass and vomit. Connors' girlfriend was attempting to calm him.
Both the girlfriend and his cousin, also a woman, told police the three had been enjoying dinner and drinks — the women wine and in Connors' case, beer and bourbon. Connors went wild suddenly and with no apparent cause, they said, tipping over a bookcase and throwing things around the apartment. When his cousin tried to calm him down, he struck her, knocking her unconscious for a brief time, the women said, according to the report.
The cousin recovered and left the home to call police as the girlfriend continued to try calming Connors.
Police arrested Connors, charging him with domestic assault and domestic disorderly conduct.
