Maria A. DeVargas, 84, Former Machine Operator

Maria J. DeVargas, formerly of Mauran Avenue, East Providence, died Thursday, May 2, 2013, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. She was 84.

She was the wife of the late Jose S. DeVargas. She was born in Praia do Norte, Faial, Azores, a daughter of the late Francisco and Emilia (daSilveira) deMedeiros.  

DeVargas was a machine operator for the Malina Corporation for 19 years before retiring in 1991. Her funeral will be held today at 8 am from Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Ave., East Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am from St. Francies Xavier Church, East Providence.
