📰 News we're reading

1. No injuries have been reported, but buyers are urged to keep the toy away from children and email the manufacturer for instructions on getting a full refund.

2. What happened in high school hoops Friday? Here are your scores and recaps (providencejournal.com) — East Providence athletes figure prominently in Friday’s high school action, with the Townies girls falling to Rogers after losing a double-digit halftime lead. 3. Q&A: RI purchases former St. Mary's Home property (wpri.com) — From East Providence, WPRI reports that Rhode Island has purchased the former St. Mary’s Home for Children property in North Providence, aiming to reopen it as a youth residential psychiatric treatment facility. Renovations will need General Assembly approval before the state can welcome children back to the site.

4. Transit advocates present legislative priorities to build a better public bus system (newsfromthestates.com) — Rhode Island transit advocates are pushing new legislation to restore and expand RIPTA bus service after last fall’s major cuts led to overcrowding, delays, and rider frustration. Their plan includes shifting rideshare tax revenue, raising car inspection fees, and restructuring RIPTA’s board, with an East Providence senator among the sponsors backing stronger, more reliable public transit statewide.
