See Student Art Show at High School
The annual East Providence High School art show shares Thursday evening, May 23, with the annual band concert.

The annual student art show at East Providence High School is Thursday evening – it will team up with the annual band concert to provide an evening that will please all of the senses.
The art show will feature several hundred paintings, sculptures and ceramic creations from the beginner to the advanced classes in the school, said Jennifer Cahoon, head of the art department. It’s open to the public from 6 to 7:30 pm.
“It will be the highest quality from students in grades nine through twelve,” Cahoon said. “It’s pretty incredible, really.”

The two- and three-dimensional artwork will be on display in a room across the lobby from the auditorium. Students will have access to that gallery space during school hours.
“We picked that night to collaborate with the band show,” said Cahoon. “Anyone can stop by and see the art work that is being created in the school. It’s not exclusive.”

Art shows have been held at the high school since 1991, she said. But it’s only been in the past four or five years that evening hours were added to give the public a chance to view student creations.
