State Police Charge E.P. Man with Drunk Driving

The man drove to the Hope Valley barracks to file a damaged-vehicle report and reportedly showed signs of intoxication; his blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit.

 

A 35-year-old East Providence man was arrested by the RI State Police for drunk-driving after breath-analyzer tests indicated his blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.

Mark W. Buxton Jr., 35, of 126 Boyden Boullevard, was arrested by State Police on Sunday, June 2, at 6 pm. According to arrest reports, police arrested Buxton after he drove to the Hope Valley barracks to file a damaged vehicle report.

State Police reported that Buxton allegedly displayed signs of intoxication and failed a field-sobriety test. His blood alcohol level registered a .179 and a .182 on a Breathalyzer test. The legal limit in Rhode Island is .08. 

Buxton was held overnight at the State Police barracks in Hope Valley and arraigned in District Court on Monday morning.
