Townie Boys' Track Team Takes Title
East Providence High School's boys' outdoor track team wins its first state title in 17 years at Brown University on Saturday.

East Providence High School’s boys' track team took the Rhode Island Interscholastic League’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship last Saturday at Brown University.
The Townies edged by four points North Kingstown and Bishop Hendricken. The championship came down to the final of the meet’s 19 events – the 4x400 relay, according to the Providence Journal. Seniors Justin Andrade, Chris Moura, and Josh Rambert and freshman Alejandro Duarte made up the team.
East Providence took it first state title in 17 years by finishing second in the relay. The Townies earned 8 points in the relay and finished with 69 points to 65 for Bishop Hendricken and North Kingstown.

EP also got outstanding performances from sprinter Ryan Williams, who took the 100 meters and 200 meters, and finished undefeated on the season, and Rambert, who won the 110 hurdles and finished second in the 300 hurdles. Moura took second in the long jump and third in the triple jump.
