Townies Looking for a Shot at LaSalle Powerhouse Thanksgiving

East Providence football faces off against LaSalle Thanksgiving Day at 10 a.m. at the EPHS field, aiming to break the Rams six-year winning streak, a 

EPHS Coach Bob Duarte said the team's hopes for the playoffs were dashed by their recent loss to Cranston West 42-28 Nov. 15, but there's hope for the Thanksgiving rivalry.

According to statistics kept at Rhode Island High School Sports, Lasalle leads the all-time Thanksgiving series 47-35, with two ties between the teams. The series dates back to 1929.

But LaSalle's usual powerhouse factor may have dimmed this year at 3-4, combined with stronger team for the Townies at 2-5, "This year it's looking a little bit more even, " Duarte said.
