VIDEO: Driver in Fiery I-195 Crash Charged with DUI

Luckily, nobody was seriously hurt after fiery single-car crash in East Providence early Friday.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI—A driver who took out a light pole in a fiery crash on Interstate 195 early Friday is facing charges of Driving Under the Influence.

Travis Stone, 27, of Swansea, MA, was arrested by East Providence police after the crash that caused his car to burst into flames and the highway to be closed for firefighters to tend the wreckage.

Along with the DUI charge, Stone was charged with reckless driving, disorderly conduct and driving with a suspended license, police said.

A passenger in the car was transported to the hospital for minor injuries.

The crash, which happened at around 1 a.m. east of Taunton Avenue, drew onlookers and St. Patrick's Day revelers still awake before calling it a night.

The car was destroyed by the fire that coughed sparks and flaming oils in a series of small explosions before firefighters were able to snuff it out.

Stone was due to be arraigned Friday in District Court.
