Watchemoket Square Day Parade Kicks Off Weekend Activities

There will be food, fun and activities for all ages on Saturday.

 

Beginning on Saturday morning, a church, local businesses and several organizations located in the Watchemoket Square area of East Providence, will open their doors to invite community members to join in on a day featuring food, fun, historical education and camaraderie with no admission fee and free parking.

The Watchemoket Square Day Parade will kick off the day's festivities at 9 a.m., beginning at East Providence City Hall (145 Taunton Ave.) and heading toward South Broadway, turning right onto South Broadway, continuing to the intersection of South Broadway and Warren Ave. The parade will then turn right onto Warren Ave. and end at the Watchemoket Tavern (31 Warren Ave.) at about 10 a.m.

Additional highlights will include:

  • 2012 International League Governors' Cup on display - hosted by Pawtucket Red Sox
  • Annual Church Bazaar at St. Mary's Episcopal Church (81 Warren Ave.)
  • Classic Car Show at Hot Rides, (30 Veterans Memorial Pkwy.)
  • Activities for kids including a bounce house, facepainting and more
  • Watchemoket Square History walking tours hosted by the East Providence Historical Society
  • East Providence Street Maps hot off the press at the East Providence Area Chamber of Commerce Information Booth (81 Warren Ave.)
  • Assortment of food and menu specials at:133 Club - (29 Warren Ave.), Watchemoket Tavern (31 Warren Ave.), Dee's Restaurant (35 Warren Ave.) and East Providence Yacht Club (9 Pier Rd.)
