Man Accused Of Setting Off Explosions From Hopkinton Home

Hopkinton police say explosions Daniel Bill, 20, set off inundated every police and 911 line in town.

HOPKINTON, RI β€” A Hopkinton man was arrested Sunday after police said he set off several explosions in town.

Daniel Bill, 20, was charged with detonating of explosive devices.

Just before 5:30 p.m., Hopkinton police became inundated with calls reporting several loud explosions. Police said the volume of the calls utilized every routine phone line as well as all 911 phone lines.

According to police, the source of the explosions was determined to be from a home on Clarks Falls Road, where Bill was arrested.

With the help of the Rhode Island State Fire Marshall's Office, the Rhode Island State Bomb Squad, and the Ashaway fire chief, it was determined there was never a threat to the public. No injuries were reported.

Bill was arraigned by a justice of the peace and was issued a felony screening date of April 26.
